Some Common Statements Organizers Hear From Their Clients
- I’m embarrassed to have someone learn how disorganized I am. I’m ashamed of the mess and am afraid it will never get better.
Professional organizers are a lot like doctors… we’ve seen just about everything! We are non-judgmental and love to help people overcome disorganization. We bring the medicine of hope and the cure of support. Organizing is a learned skill that can be taught. Our motto is parallel to the ancient Asian proverb, “Organize a client once and they return to chaos but teach them how to become organized and they stay organized for a lifetime.” Or something like that!
- I freeze up when I have to make a decision
All the more reason to have a professional organizer or coach guide you by asking questions that get to the point of your fear of making decisions. You will soon gain confidence that comes with someone encouraging you in making the RIGHT decisions. There is something powerful in the presence of another human being who has no personal attachment to your things who will gently guide you in helping YOU make the best decision for those items.
- I don't have TIME to get organized!
Life comes at us fast! Time management is so important because it enables us to spend our time wisely. Time is Money! Spending just five minutes a day keeping yourself organized (even the smallest organized system) saves you countless minutes to spend time doing things you enjoy. Procrastination will not save you time, but will instead continue to suck your time like a vortex. Consider time with an organizer or coach as an investment. Spending the two to 20 hours with them will change your life for the better!
- I bought organizer tubs and bins over a year ago, and I am no better organized today.
A Professional organizer will not (or shouldn’t) start buying organizational tools until it’s been decided by both parties that these items are needed. Having an organizer come into the space that needs to be organized will put good use to those tools that you bought over a year ago! Nothing is wasted with an organizer!
- Once my organizer leaves, I’m afraid I won’t be able to stay organized.
This statement goes along with response number one above. A good professional organizer will teach you how to stay organized. It’s up to you to decide that you want to learn and change and grow. We specialize in “Baby Steps” to give you the confidence that you need to stay organized!
